Riboflavin supplementation taken in conjunction with tamoxifen treatment can help reduce damage to the liver that can occur as a side effect. Tamoxifen, a drug used to treat breast cancer, can cause liver damage in some people. Women who took a supplement containing riboflavin for ninety days as an adjunct to tamoxifen, had reduced markers of cellular oxidative stress, reflecting a protective effect of riboflavin on liver health. Riboflavin is a B vitamin (also known as B2) commonly found in many multivitamin supplements. It works synergistically with other B vitamins and should be taken as part of a B complex.
