Cherries contain melatonin which improves sleep.  You might try this smoothie as a dessert in the evening to see if it helps you drift into deep sleep.  Sweet dreams!

  • 1 cup frozen pitted dark cherries
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon cherry juice concentrate
  • 1 teaspoon xylitol

Add sparkling mineral water after it has been blended to add a bubbly kick.
1 teaspoon lemon juice

Combine all ingredients in blender or food processor and blend until smooth.

Serves 2

Blueberry Crumble with Cinnamon

Each of the ingredients supports the healing of breast cancer.  I will be posting this food nutrient research on my blog over the coming weeks.  In the meantime, enjoy this delicious dessert and know that by indulging in this delicious dessert you are proving your body with nutrients that support healing from breast cancer in a variety of ways.


  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup almonds, chopped
  • 1/2 cup rice flour
  • 1/4 cup walnut oil
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt


  • 2 1/2 cups blueberries
  • 1/2 cup black raspberries
  • 2 tablespoons xylitol
  • Pinch of nutmeg


  • 1 ground vanilla bean

Combine all of the dry crumble ingredients, stir in walnut oil and set aside. In a medium bowl combine all of the filling ingredients and pour into an oiled baking dish. Spread the filling evenly and top with the crumble, covering the berry mixture completely. Bake at 325 F for 40 minutes.

Serves 8
