Cherry Parfait

Cherry Parfait

Even though this tastes like a dessert, it’s actually a nutrient dense drink that makes an excellent breakfast.

Cherries (both fresh and frozen) contain quercetin, which helps combat heart disease, cataracts, allergies, inflammation, bronchitis, and asthma.

Also of note, Japanese researchers have reported that 80 percent of people who ate 8 ounces of *natural yogurt daily for six weeks had a decrease in sulfide compounds, the odoriferous chemicals responsible for halitosis.

Natural yogurt is yogurt that doesn’t contain artificial coloring, synthetic sweeteners or preservatives. Organic yogurt that contains less than 15 grams of sugar are the healthiest. Some yogurt contains as much sugar as a Snicker’s bar. Example: 1 Snicker’s Bar contains 30 grams of sugar while a small 6 ounce Dannon’s Yogurt contains a whopping 27 grams of sugar and that’s from unhealthy high fructose corn syrup.

1 cup organic milk

1 cup organic yogurt

1 cup pitted cherries, fresh or frozen

½ cup gluten-free granola

Combine ingredients in a blender or food processor and blend until smooth. Serve immediately.
