Lower Breast Cancer Risk with Vegetables and Fruits

Increasing fruit and vegetable intake can reduce the likelihood of breast cancer development and recurrence.

In a study of over 1,500 women previously treated for early-stage breast cancer, those with the highest plasma carotenoid concentrations (a marker of fruit and vegetable intake) had the lowest rates of breast cancer recurrence. Carotenoids are antioxidants that neutralize free radicals.
