This recipe is a powerhouse of nutrients used in various energy-making, biochemical pathways. The antioxidants, found in high concentrations in the cocoa, are utilized in energy production. The caffeine from the cocoa dilates blood vessels, increasing circulation of the antioxidants as well as the amino acids.
Cottage cheese and peanuts are two of the richest vegetarian food sources of methionine known— an amino acid that the liver converts to taurine. In addition, whey protein powder generally contains about 50 mg of taurine-potential per serving.
- 1 cup milk
- ½ cup cottage cheese
- 3 tablespoons peanut butter
- 3 tablespoons unsweetened organic cocoa powder
- 2 tablespoons whey protein powder
